Claire trained as a Primary School teacher and taught children, student teachers and refugees for many years in the United Kingdom, Poland and South Africa. She now fills her days working with cloth, thread, dye and paint and also teaches surface design, art quilt design and quilting in the UK and overseas.
Claire's work is strongly influenced by matters of social conscience which is borne out in much of her work. As well as art quilts Claire also enjoys creating modular textile sculpture.
In 2015 she wrote the book, 'Quilting Originals', in which she describes straightforward ways to design and make art quilts.
Claire's work is exhibited internationally and is in several private collections. She is a founder member of the bilingual group 'Six Dames' as well as a member of 'CQ West', '12 by the Dozen' and the Quilters Guild of the British Isles.
In 2017 Claire became a Juried Artist member of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA).
