AI is changing the way artists work and the way our artworks are perceived and valued.  Is AI a blessing or a curse, friend or foe, partner or adversary? Strong arguments and opinions come from all sides and like it or not, AI is part of our future, but what will that look like?
Inspired by the traditional folded paper fortune tellers I loved to make as a child, this giant, fully functional fortune teller is a whimsical way to encourage conversations around the relationship that exists between artists, audiences and AI. The eye-catching explosion of colourful ribbons from the centre convey both excitement and tension as they bounce on currents of air. Images for the folded sections were created using text to image software, then manipulated and carefully positioned into a giant digital collage. Lastly, I asked several popular AI text generators to ‘tell me my fortune’ from an artist's point of view, and used the responses as the secret ‘fortunes’ stitched under the folded flaps.  
Regular sized replicas  of the giant fortune teller, with a variety of different 'fortunes' inside, are included  for the audience to play with, and to encourage them to think and discuss the ‘fortunes’ they receive.
